ELD Rule Implementation

All carriers and drivers subject to the ELD rule must use either an ELD or an AOBRD (automatic on-board recording devices compliant with existing regulations) by December 18, 2017. AOBRDs may be used until December 16, 2019, if the devices were put into use before December 18, 2017. Starting December 16, 2019, all carriers and drivers subject to the rule must use ELDs. ELDs must have the capability of either telematic data transfer or local transfer.

A “grandfathered” AOBRD is a device that a motor carrier installed and required its drivers to use before the electronic logging device (ELD) rule compliance date of December 18, 2017. The device must meet the requirements of 49 CFR 395.15. A motor carrier may continue to use grandfathered AOBRDs no later than December 16, 2019. After that, the motor carrier and its drivers must use ELDs. See Section 395.15 (a) of the ELD final rule.

All Environmental Transport Group, Inc. trucks are equipped with Omnitracs IVG units and are operating as AOBRDs.

ETGI drivers are required to operate in compliance with Hours of Service regulations. Violation of this policy will result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment. This policy has no exceptions.

 

 

 

e-Manifest System

E-Manifest launches nationwide on June 30, 2018. The use of electronic manifests is optional, however, Environmental Transport Group, Inc. is committed to complying with all EPA e-manifest requirements. All of our drivers are enrolled and ready to participate in the program. Should our customers decide to participate in the e-Manifest system we are fully prepared to accept and electronically sign for the custody of transfer. We have not equipped our units with portable devices. Any customer wishing to participate in the e-Manifest program must make a computer/printer available to our driver in order to access the e-Manifest website to log in.

Per DOT regulations, all drivers are still required to carry one paper copy of all manifests during transport to be accessible to emergency responders in the event of an incident during transport.
